Polyaluminium Chloride is classified as corrosive at higher concentrations, it is typically yellow in colour. It is miscible with water at all concentrations although dilute solutions hydrolyse to precipitate Aluminium Hydroxide (Al(OH)3).
Polyaluminium Chloride is not a single product, but a spectrum of polymers which are characterised by their strength (usually in % Al2O3) and basicity – the latter gives an indication of the polymeric composition of PAC.
| Properties | Guarantee Value | Typical Value | |
| Alumina (Al2O3) Content % | ≥30 | 30.15 | |
| Basicity % | 70-90 | 83.9 | |
| Water Insoluble % | ≤1.5 | 0.3 | |
| PH Value (1% Solution) | 3.5-5.0 | 3.8 | |

PAC works both as oranic and inoranic flocculant. This characteristic allows it to be used both in the industrlal coaqulaton and the treatment of rawsewerage. in both cases, the aluminum catlons in the solution combines ith the negative lons of other elements in the mix to form insoluble compounds thatcan be filtered away or let to sediment for the ease of collection.
