What types of polyacrylamide are there? What’s the difference?

The most important thing about polyacrylamide is its molecular weight, which can be divided into three grades:low, medium and high.Low molecular weight is mainly used as a dispersant;medium molecular weight is generally used as a paper strengthening agent;high molecular weight is the most widely used and is mainly used as a flocculant;ultra-high molecular weight is mainly used in the field of tertiary recovery of oil fields.

Another important parameter of polyacrylamide is ionicity, which can be divided into anionic, cationic and zwitterionic.

Anionic polyacrylamide:Anionic polyacrylamide has a very strong electrostatic repulsion on its own chain highly extended and has very good flocculation and thickening properties.Anions are mainly used in low-salt solution and alkaline media.

Cation:The intervention of cationic charge makes it have a strong enhancement effect on the adsorption performance of negatively charged colloids, polymers and solid surfaces, and increases the efficiency of polyacrylamide adsorption, adhesion, decolorization and flocculation. It is especially suitable for the dehydration treatment of urban sewage, sludge, papaermaking sludge and other industrial sewage sludge.

Zwitterion:After hydrolysis,it forms a zwitterionic irregular polymer with positive and negative charges on the molecular chain. It can be used in a wider range of pH values,it combines the advantages of cations and anions,it is more widely uaed, and the effect is better.
