Sodium dichloroisocyanurate, referred to as SDIC and commonly known as Youlujing, is a highly effective and broad-spectrum organic chlorine disinfectant, bleaching agent, bactericide and algaecide. It usually appears as white crystalline powder, granules or tablets with a slight chlorine odor, and has an available chlorine content of 60% to 64.5%. It is readily soluble in water with a weakly acidic aqueous solution, chemically stable in a dry state, and experiences little loss of available chlorine during storage and transportation. When dissolved in water, it slowly and continuously releases hypochlorous acid, which can quickly kill bacteria, viruses, fungi, algae and even bacterial spores with high sterilization efficiency and long-lasting effect.
With the advantages of mild performance, high solubility and residue-free degradation, sodium dichloroisocyanurate has a wide range of applications. It is commonly used for disinfection, sterilization, algae removal and clarification in drinking water, swimming pools, industrial circulating water and sewage treatment. It is also suitable for environmental disinfection in public places such as hospitals, schools and hotels, and is widely used in the disinfection of food processing equipment, fresh-keeping cleaning of fruits and vegetables, as well as epidemic prevention in animal husbandry and aquaculture. In addition, it can be used for bleaching in the textile and paper-making industries and for shrink-proof treatment of wool, serving as an important active ingredient in daily chemical bleaching and washing products.
Standard operation is required for the storage, transportation and use of sodium dichloroisocyanurate. It is irritating to the skin, eyes and respiratory tract, so appropriate protective equipment should be worn during operation. This product is strictly prohibited from mixing with acidic substances, ammonia water and reducing agents, otherwise toxic chlorine gas will be produced. It should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place away from fire sources, food and feed to ensure safe use.
