It is widely used in the gold extraction process of carbon slurry method and heap leaching method. As most of its pore structure consists of micropores (more than 80%), coconut shell carbon can efficiently absorb impurities with micropore molecular structure, such as those present in drinking water.

 

In addition, because of its high abrasion resistance and exceptional chemical and physical characteristics, only coconut shell activated carbon can support applications such as recovery of gold and other precious metals.

The process of extracting gold from activated carbon is as follows:

 

1. Crushing and grinding ore: The ore containing gold is broken and ground fine in order to accelerate the contact between gold and activated carbon.

 

2. Soaking: The crushed ore is soaked in a solution containing cyanide, so that gold reacts with cyanide to form gold cyanide ions.

 

3. Adsorption: The soaked solution is passed through the activated carbon bed, so that the activated carbon can absorb gold cyanide ion.

 

4. Washing: Wash the activated carbon bed to remove the gold cyanide ions adsorbed on the activated carbon.

 

5. Desorption: The washed activated carbon is desorbed by high temperature or chemical methods, so that the gold is redissolved in the solution.

 

6. Electrolysis: the deattached gold solution is electrolyzed to deposit gold on the cathode to obtain pure gold.
